Prairiland dominates Chisum on senior night
On Tuesday night in Pattonville, the Prairiland Lady Patriots volleyball team celebrated its senior night. After T.J. Folse, Reese Parris, and Erika Sims were honored in front of their home crowd, the Lady Patriots made quick work of the Chisum Lady Mustangs in straight sets. The home team won the game on head coach Emily Vanderburg’s birthday by a final score of 25-12, 25-8, and 25-11.
The Lady Pats (20-3, 11-1) finished tied atop the district with Emory Rains and a tiebreaker match will come. For Chisum, the loss eliminated the Lady Mustangs from playoff contention for the first time in head coach Laura Nickerson’s second stint coaching the team.
Parris led Prairiland with 10 kills, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Folse added 4 kills, 6 digs, and 1 block. Sims added aced a serve in the victory.
Sophomore setters Chloe Raley and Hanna Cope combined for 24 assists, while Raley also had 4 digs and 5 aces. Junior middle Abi Farmer chipped in with 5 kills and 1 block, while Ali Sessums registered 4 kills, 11 digs, and 4 aces. Kyndal Yaross tallied 3 kills while Lanna Riley had 4 digs. Katelyn Cornmesser also contributed with 2 aces.
Senior middle Chloe Prestridge led Chisum with 3 kills and 4 blocks, while sophomore setter Carly Bell had 7 assists. Zoe England recorded 4 kills and 1 ace, while junior setter Kelsea Ball added 4 assists and 2 aces. Tinslee Allen and Emma Garner combined for 3 kills, while Peyton Holland compiled 1 kill and 7 digs.
The Lady Patriots will prep for a tiebreaker matchup against Emory Rains for sole possession of the district title. The teams will match up at 3 p.m. Saturday with a site to be announced. Meanwhile, the Lady Mustangs will end their season with a home game at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Commerce. For more sports coverage, click here.
