Local teams continue district push on the diamond
After experiencing mixed results within their respective district contests earlier in the week, varsity baseball and softball teams from Paris, North Lamar, Chisum, and Prairiland will take the field again tonight with more district games on the horizon tonight as softball teams will start playing at 6 p.m. and baseball games will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Paris Wildcats are trying to snap an eight-game losing streak after falling at Liberty-Eylau 8-5. Tonight, the Wildcats will host Pittsburg while the Lady ’Cats will try to bounce back from a 16-0 loss at North Lamar as they face Liberty-Eylau at home.
Meanwhile, the North Lamar Panthers will host L-E at Pos Long Field while the No. 2-ranked Pantherettes will go for another district win at Gilmer. The Chisum Mustangs baseball team aims to avenge a recent road loss to Emory Rains with a rematch at home tonight while the Lady Mustangs look to build off a road contest at state-favorite Rains with a home game against Lone Oak.
In other RRV action, the Prairiland Lady Patriots softball team will face Class 5A Mount Pleasant as the visiting team in non-district action while the Patriots baseball team will host Lone Oak at 7 p.m. tonight. For more sports and outdoor coverage, click here.
