Lady Patriots use hot first-half shooting to roll past Chisum
On Saturday afternoon, the Chisum Lady Mustangs hosted their crosstown rival Prairiland Lady Patriots in a pivotal district contest. In Mustang Gymnasium, the Lady Patriots were the aggressors from the start. Prairiland used a red-hot first half to propel itself past Chisum strongly across the finish line for a 57-44 win.
The Lady Pats scorched the nets in the first quarter with a 23-point outburst. Prairiland followed up that effort with a 15-point second quarter to secure a 38-22 halftime lead. The Lady Patriots scored more in the first quarter (23) than Chisum did in the entire first half (22).
With a large lead entering the third quarter, Prairiland was able to hold Chisum off down the stretch to secure its first district win in two tries.
Hannah Murdock recorded 14 points to lead the Lady Patriots while Malorie Sneed tossed in 11 points. Abi Farmer and Chloe Raley scored 10 points apiece while Kiersten Bridges added 6 points. Ali Sessums chipped in with 4 points and Erika Sims had 2 points.
Chloe Prestridge led Chisum with 14 points while Ava Lamb finished with 13 points. Peyton Holland scored 6 points while Jordan Lawson added 4 points. Harmony Marsh poured in 3 points while Hannah Ford and Brylea Marshall each scored 2 points.
The Lady Patriots will play again at 5:30 p.m. tonight at home against Lone Oak. Meanwhile, the Lady Mustangs will try to bounce back at 6:15 p.m. tonight on the road at Emory Rains. For more sports coverage, click here.
