Lady Panthers top Pantherettes 56-38 with second-half surge
On Tuesday, the North Lamar Pantherettes looked to get on track once more against another quality opponent. After Caddo Mills handed North Lamar its second loss of the season, 41-39 at North Lamar, the Pantherettes hosted the Bells Lady Panthers.
In spite of missing key players, the Pantherettes handled Bells’ pressure and physicality well in the early going by entering the locker room with a 21-19 halftime lead. However, Bells turned on the afterburners in the second half and used a dominant second-half performance to pull away for a 56-38 win.
North Lamar (10-3) lost its second contest in a row after reaching the 10-win threshold. Bells provided the difference in the game with its third-quarter dominance. In the third frame, the Lady Panthers exploded for 22 points while limiting the Pantherette offense to just five points.
Junior guard Mylee Nottingham led North Lamar with a team-high 13 points, while sophomore guard Maddie Walters added 9 points. Junior post Hutton Pointer scored 7 points, while seniors Macy Richardson and Emma Fowler recorded 4 points apiece. Dani Blount had 1 point.
The Pantherettes look to secure their 11th win of the year at noon Saturday at home against the Canton Lady Eagles. For more sports coverage, click here.
