Girls teams winding down regular season, boys still playing through second half of district schedule
The playoff picture is beginning to become more clear to teams competing in Texas on the high school basketball hardwood. The Paris Lady Wildcats, North Lamar Pantherettes, and Prairiland Lady Patriots are either fighting for or have already clinched a playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Chisum Lady Mustangs are looking to build on what they have accomplished for next season. All girls games will tip-off at 6 p.m. tonight while the boys’ tip-off times vary.
On the boys’ side, the Chisum Mustangs, Prairiland Patriots, and Bonham Purple Warriors are each at least in a position to compete for a playoff spot while the Paris Wildcats are in a battle with Pleasant Grove for the district title. The North Lamar Panthers are on the outside looking in with the playoff picture but have a few more games on the schedule to try to make up the difference.
The Lady ’Cats (6-12, 3-5) will try to rebound from back-to-back losses with a district contest at home against Liberty-Eylau while the Pantherettes (15-8, 4-3) will tip-off at the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks. The crosstown rivals will play each other in their regular-season finale at 6 p.m. Friday at North Lamar. Chisum (8-11, 4-7) will close out its season at 6 p.m. Friday at Lone Oak while the Lady Patriots (12-6, 7-3) already clinched a playoff spot and completed their regular-season schedule.
On the boys’ side, the Wildcats will tip-off at 7 p.m. tonight at Liberty-Eylau while the Panthers will take on Pleasant Grove at 7 p.m. tonight at home. The Patriots will play at 6:15 p.m. tonight on the road against the Commerce Tigers while the Mustangs (16-6, 5-4) aim to bounce back at 6:15 p.m. Friday at home against Lone Oak. The Purple Warriors will try to win their third district game in four outings at 7:30 p.m. tonight at home against the Whitewright Tigers. For more sports coverage, click here.
