Chisum at Prairiland double-headers highlight local district action on baseball and softball fields
A new slate of district baseball and softball games is looming locally as area teams continue to battle their district opponents for potential playoff positioning. Headlining this week’s action is a pair of double-header matchups between both the baseball and softball programs from Prairiland and Chisum High Schools. Meanwhile, both varsity high school teams from Paris ISD and North Lamar ISD will also take the field this week.
On the softball field, the Lady Patriots have dominated the rivalry’s recent history with 10 consecutive head-to-head wins. The improving Lady Mustangs will try to change that trend at 6 p.m. tonight. On the baseball field, the Mustangs have defeated the Patriots the last six times the two teams have played against each other. Tonight, the impressive Patriots squad will attempt to reverse their fortunes against their rivals at 7 p.m. tonight.
In Class 4A action, the Paris Wildcats will host the North Lamar Panthers at 7:30 p.m. tonight on The Hill. The Panthers defeated the Wildcats 5-2 in the teams’ last meeting earlier this season at Pos Long Field and will try to make it four wins in a row against their crosstown rivals.
In Class 4A softball, the North Lamar Pantherettes look to continue their district dominance with a contest at 6 p.m. tonight at Liberty-Eylau while the Lady ’Cats aim for a bounce-back win at 6 p.m. tonight at the Pittsburg Lady Pirates. For more sports and outdoor coverage, click here.
