Zags remain atop AP Poll, Big Ten and Big 12 Conferences crowd top-25 rankings
Since the opening AP Poll for the NCAA Men’s Basketball top-25 rankings, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have held the top spot. In the Week 6 rankings released on Monday, the Zags still held a firm grip on the number-one spot and received 62 of 64 possible first-place votes. The No. 2 Baylor Bears received the other two first-place votes.
Furthermore, nine teams from the Big Ten Conference are in this week’s top-25 rankings, while the Big 12 Conference featured five teams inside the top-15. Aside from No. 13 Texas Tech, the remaining four Big 12 teams sat inside the top-10.
Behind Gonzaga and Baylor, the Kansas Jayhawks, Villanova Wildcats, and Houston Cougars rounded out the top-5 spots. The Wisconsin Badgers earned sixth place from the voters while the Tennessee Volunteers followed at number seven. The Texas Longhorns, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Iowa Hawkeyes rounded out the top-10 in order at eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
Along with its two top-10 teams, the Big Ten saw No. 14 Rutgers, No. 15 Illinois, No. 16 Michigan, No. 17 Michigan State, No. 19 Northwestern, No. 21 Minnesota, and No. 25 Ohio State in this week’s AP Poll. For more sports coverage, click here.
