World Series set for Game 1 in Arlington
Major League Baseball’s 2020 World Series is set to begin tonight in Arlington. The Texas Rangers’ brand new baseball stadium Globe Life Field will be the site of this year’s World Series. The matchup is between the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays and the National League champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Game 1 of the World Series will begin at 7:11 p.m. tonight on Fox. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Globe Life Field is only allowed to fill the stadium at 25 percent capacity. With that, the stadium staff can sell up to 11,500 tickets per World Series game.
Globe Life Field was the Dodgers’ site for both the National League Divisional and Championship series, while the Rays played the ALDS and ALCS at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The Dodgers swept the San Diego Padres in the NLDS and came back from down 3-1 in the NLCS to upend the Atlanta Braves in seven games. Meanwhile, the Rays ousted the New York Yankees in five games in the ALDS and topped the Houston Astros in seven games in the ALCS. The Astros nearly rallied from a 3-0 series deficit.
Right-hander Tyler Glasnow will take the mound for Tampa Bay, while lefty Clayton Kershaw will be on the bump for the Dodgers. The rest of the series (including Games 5 through 7 if necessary) will take place and finish by October’s end. Games 2 through 7 will happen on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday (Oct. 27), and Wednesday (Oct. 28). For more sports coverage, click here.
