The Weeknd to perform at Super Bowl LV as halftime headliner
The Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show now has its headlining performer for the big stage on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021. Three-time Grammy Award winner The Weeknd will star in the spotlight of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, where the NFC and AFC Champions will compete for the Lombardi Trophy of the 2020-21 NFL season.
Time named The Weeknd as one of the most influential people of 2020, whose latest album “After Hours” is the most-streamed R&B album of all time. The “Starboy” singer made the announcement on Thursday with a photo on his Twitter account.
“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year,” The Weeknd said.
