NBA’s 2021 season to tip off with intriguing double-header
Just a few months after the Los Angeles Lakers’ impressive run to the 2020 NBA Finals championship, the National Basketball Association is already running it back. Tonight on TNT, the 2021 NBA season will tip off with an intriguing double-header tilt featuring the Golden State Warriors at the Brooklyn Nets, followed by an all-Tinseltown battle between the Los Angeles Clippers and LA Lakers.
The Warriors and Nets will open up the season on the east coast. Golden State is looking to compete in the postseason once again after a playoff hiatus last season but will face off against one of its former stars in Kevin Durant. The former three-time champion with the Warriors overcame an Achilles tear in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals at the Toronto Raptors, and he will make his Brooklyn debut against his most recent former team after missing the entire 2020 season rehabilitating from his injury. The teams will square off at 6 p.m. tonight.
Meanwhile, the nightcap of opening night will feature an all-LA matchup between the Clippers and defending-champion Lakers. The Lakers received the services of Montrezl Harrell and added Denis Schroder in the offseason to an already talented roster while the Clippers made a coaching change. The Clippers let Doc Rivers, now with the Philadelphia 76ers, walk while handing the reins over to former Cleveland Cavaliers championship-winning coach Tyronn Lue. The Lakers and Clippers will square off at 9 p.m. tonight.
The next big NBA event will take place with five games on Christmas Day. The games will be aired live on ESPN and ABC. For more sports coverage, click here.
