Cowboys lose free agent CB Awuzie to Bengals
On Tuesday, free agent cornerback Chidobe Awuzie agreed to a 3-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals after spending his first four seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Awuzie’s contract is worth $21.75 million with $7.5 million guaranteed.
Ideally, Cincinnati is looking to pair Awuzie with Trae Waynes, who is coming off a pectoral injury that forced him to sit out his entire first season with the Bengals. Awuzie missed eight total games last season, which was a contract year for him with the Cowboys, and picked off one pass to go with five pass deflections and 38 tackles in games he played.
Awuzie, the Cowboys’ 25-year-old second-round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, recorded at least one interception in each of his four seasons in Dallas across 42 starts.
