Regular-season football coming down the home stretch
The 2020 regular season is winding down for local football teams. With the postseason just around the corner, area teams will compete against foes within their districts at 7:30 p.m. for two more Friday nights.
The No. 10-ranked Paris Wildcats have their bye week following a 35-21 win at Kaufman. On Friday, Nov. 6, a home game against top-ranked Argyle looms for Paris in the teams’ regular-season finale.
Meanwhile, the North Lamar Panthers are still pushing for their first win of the year. The Panthers suffered a shutout loss at home against Pittsburg, but will try to pull off the upset at home against No. 5-ranked Gilmer.
In Class 3A action, district rivals Chisum and Prairiland will both take the field. The Mustangs are trying to secure a playoff spot and have a prime opportunity to do so with their next game. Chisum will host the DeKalb Bears in an attempt to secure the district’s fourth seed.
Meanwhile, the Patriots are slated to kick off on the road at Paul Pewitt. The Patriots recorded their first district win last week 31-28 at home over Redwater. Now, Prairiland will face a stiff test playing on the field of the Brahmas, who were last year’s state-runners up in Class 3A, Division II. For more sports coverage, click here.
