District baseball and softball games take center stage
As the weather continues to heat up in the area, so does the action for local high school baseball and softball teams. With the games on the diamond rolling along, local teams from Paris, North Lamar, Chisum, and Prairiland are now in the critical portion of their schedules where they will face district opponents for the rest of the regular season.
Headlining the action is a crosstown softball matchup between the Paris Lady Wildcats and North Lamar Pantherettes. In this district showdown, the improving Lady ’Cats, led by first-year head coach Brandi Batchelor, will travel to Pantherette Field to face the mighty Pantherettes at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Paris Wildcats are coming off a narrow 7-6 loss at Pleasant Grove but will go for their first district win at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty-Eylau. The North Lamar Panthers will also be in action as they will try their luck in Texarkana as they face the Hawks at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Chisum Mustangs and the Lady Mustangs will both square off against Emory Rains at 6 p.m. Tuesday as the visitors while both the Prairiland Patriots softball and baseball teams will match up against Lone Oak as the visitors at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, respectively.
