Lee, Savage combined for 67 points as Wildcats thrash Van Alstyne 100-73
On Tuesday night, the Paris Wildcats basketball team hit the century mark in an impressive, 27-point win over Van Alstyne. The Wildcats (3-2) rebounded well from a close loss to Class 3A Commerce with their 100-73 victory over Van Alstyne.
Paris effectively led wire-to-wire in its contest against the Van Alstyne Panthers. Star junior Jaelyn Lee already reached double figures with a 10-point first quarter, which Paris led 26-17. The lead continued to balloon after each quarter as the Wildcats cruised to the victory behind quality shooting behind the arc and consistency in breaking through Van Alstyne’s pressure defense.
Head coach Billy Mack Steed saw four of his players reach double-digit scoring numbers. The 6-foot-6 guard Lee led the way with 33 points, while junior guard Garrius Savage added 24 points. The backcourt duo was able to penetrate the lane at will while also mixing in several jumpers to anchor the scoring for Paris.
Jeremerious Morgan and Troy Jones also contributed with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Braylon Mickens was productive down low and scored 8 points in the game, while Micah Jenkins tallied 6 points.
The Wildcats look to build a winning streak at 3 p.m. Saturday at home against Sulphur Springs. For more sports coverage, click here.
