Rodgers passes Mahomes as bettors’ favorite for NFL MVP
As teams across the NFL enter the final week of the regular season, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers surged past Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes as the clear frontrunner to win this year’s MVP award. Before last week’s games, Rodgers’ odds sat at +450 as a big underdog. As of Tuesday, however, Rodgers became the clear favorite at -260 at Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill after a big performance in a big, snowy home win over the Tennessee Titans, while Mahomes’ odds changed from -400 to +210.
Against the Titans, Rodgers completed 21 of his 25 pass attempts for 231 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 40-14 victory. Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled to beat the Atlanta Falcons by a final score of 17-14 in Week 16, and Kansas City will likely rest a large number of starting players since it has the top seed in the AFC playoffs locked up.
The Packers have a meaningful road contest at the Chicago Bears remaining, where Rodgers and company can both lock up the top seed in the NFC and add to Rodgers’ league-high 44 touchdown passes. Rodgers is also a betting favorite as of Tuesday on both FanDuel (-370) and DraftKings (-335) as well. For more sports coverage, click here.
