Cowboys rookie DB Trevon Diggs to miss 4-6 weeks with injury
Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive back Trevon Diggs broke his foot late in the Cowboys’ 24-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The team said Diggs is expected to miss 4-6 weeks but will not require surgery.
Diggs will wear a walking boot as he recovers, but the prognosis for a potential return this season is in doubt. The rookie second-round draft pick leads the secondary with two interceptions — both coming against Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.
With Diggs’ injury, Chidobe Awuzie is a likely candidate to fill in for the rookie. Awuzie was placed on injured reserve in Week 2 from a hamstring injury, but the third-year pro has been an active participant in practices for the past two weeks.
The Cowboys have their bye week this week ahead of their Sunday, Nov. 22 game at the Minnesota Vikings. However, the Cowboys have not been practicing due to a Steelers player testing positive. Dallas hosted Pittsburgh on Sunday. For more sports coverage, click here.
