Playoffs arrive for local volleyball teams
The 2020 postseason is only one day away for local volleyball teams. The Paris Lady Wildcats, North Lamar Pantherettes, and Prairiland Lady Patriots will all compete in their respective bi-district round matchups Thursday night.
In Class 4A, the Lady ’Cats enter the playoffs with momentum. Paris broke a third-place tie with rival North Lamar on Monday night at Chisum High School. The teams played against one another for seeding purposes, and the Lady ’Cats emerged victorious in four sets. With that, Paris will face No. 13-ranked Bullard, the second seed of District 16-4A, Region II. Paris took down the Lady Panthers in five close sets Friday, Sept. 4 in Bullard. Meanwhile, the North Lamar Pantherettes earned the district’s fourth seed after falling against Paris. With that, the Pantherettes drew second-ranked Lindale in the first round. Lindale (26-0, 12-0) has impressed this season not only by virtue of its undefeated record. In addition to this, the Lady Eagles only dropped five total sets during the regular season, and Lindale’s only defeat in league play was a 26-24 loss in the second set in a district match at Bullard. The Prairiland Lady Patriots are also in postseason action in Class 3A. On Saturday, the Lady Patriots lost to Emory Rains in straight sets in a tiebreak match at Sulphur Springs Middle School for sole possession of the district title. With that, Prairiland earned the district’s second seed and a match against the Pottsboro Lady Cardinals. The teams will square off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Princeton High School auxiliary gymnasium. Click here to purchase tickets for Prairiland’s bi-district game.
